Tried A Seafood Platter - Oysters Were Tiny, Shrimp & Fish Were Average
I recently tried this restaurant for the first time after it came highly recommended by a few people I had spoken with. It had been on my list of places to try, and one night while I was working in the area, I happened to be nearby and decided to finally give it a try.
I ordered the 2 Fish, 3 Shrimp, 3 Oyster plate. Unfortunately, the portion sizes were disappointing, especially the oysters. The fish pieces were smaller than I expected, but the oysters were extremely small, about the size of a dime. Some were almost pea-sized. Most of what I was eating was batter, with very little actual oyster inside. They were also pretty dry and didn't have much flavor.
The shrimp were decent and about average in size, but certainly not large. The biggest portion of the plate was actually the fries. They seemed to make up roughly 70% of everything on the plate, and I had a huge pile of fries left over when I finished the rest of the meal.
Prices were about average for a seafood restaurant, but considering the portions of seafood I received, I felt the meal was on the expensive side. My dining partner had a different plate and commented that his portion was just enough to fill him up. He did finish everything, though, so he didn't have anything left over like I did.
I've also been told the restaurant gets pretty busy on weekend nights, probably in part because there is a bar inside.
Overall, I wouldn't put this among my top Mexican seafood restaurants. That said, I wouldn't completely write it off. I'd be willing to come back and try another item from the menu to see if I simply ordered something that wasn't one of their better dishes.— Paul
