Thai & Sushi - Sushi Rolls Are Decent

I’ve eaten at Rock San a few times now, and overall, I’ve had a pretty good experience.

The sushi quality here is quite good. It’s not quite at the level of a dedicated Japanese sushi bar, but the fish is good quality, the rolls are flavorful, and everything I’ve tried has been well prepared. Rock San offers a good variety, including nigiri, traditional rolls, and an impressive selection of deep-fried rolls.

One of my favorite rolls here is the **UTSA Roll**. Some people may argue that a deep-fried roll isn’t really sushi, but I’m a fan of it. It’s made with shrimp tempura, avocado, and cream cheese, then battered and deep-fried and served with Kobe sauce. It’s definitely one of the more unique rolls on the menu and something I haven’t found quite the same way at other places around town.

The Thai food here is also pretty good, but I primarily come to Rock San for the sushi.

The atmosphere is another plus. The inside is nicely done, with a more relaxed and intimate feel. It’s not brightly lit or usually very noisy, making it a good choice for a nice dinner or even a date night. You can sit down and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed or overwhelmed by a loud restaurant.

I’d recommend giving Rock San a try. The menu has some interesting rolls you won’t find everywhere else in town, and the overall quality is above what I’ve experienced at many other local sushi restaurants. If you’re looking for something a little different from the usual sushi options, it’s definitely worth checking out.
