Flavorless Sauces, No Spice & Extra Sauce Request Resulted In Soupy Noodles

This restaurant is located on the north end of the Winstar Casino. I'd seen it a few times when visiting and decided to give it a try on this visit.

Let me start with what was done right. I asked for extra onion, extra garlic, and extra cabbage, and the people preparing my bowl followed my requests exactly. I also asked if I could have more than one cup of sauce, and they were happy to add another.

I asked for the extra sauce because, when I first saw it, it looked very watery, and I was concerned that the finished meal might be bland. Unfortunately, that concern turned out to be justified.

The biggest problem with the meal was the sauce. It was extremely watery and didn't have much flavor. When my bowl came out, the noodles were essentially floating in the sauce, and there was a noticeable pool of liquid in the bottom of the box. At most Mongolian BBQ restaurants, the sauce cooks down as the food is prepared, leaving the noodles and other ingredients coated in the sauce rather than sitting in a puddle of liquid. That wasn't the case here.

The steak was another disappointment. It appeared to have been pre-seasoned with a traditional steak seasoning, and the flavor reminded me more of something that belonged on a plate with mashed potatoes than in a Mongolian BBQ bowl. It didn't have the flavor profile I was expecting from this type of meal.

I also added Sriracha because I wanted some heat. The restaurant's "fire sauce," which had a pepper symbol next to it, didn't really add much heat or flavor to the meal, so the Sriracha was necessary to give it some kick.

The bowls were priced at $12 and $14, which I felt was fairly expensive for a single-serving Mongolian BBQ meal. The portion size was adequate for a small meal, but it wasn't particularly filling. I ended up eating pizza about two hours later because I was still hungry.

Overall, I wasn't impressed with the meal and, more importantly, I didn't leave feeling satisfied. I couldn't help but think back to the people I saw ordering burgers at a Mongolian BBQ restaurant. At the time, I wondered why they weren't ordering the Mongolian food. After this meal, I started wondering if they knew something I didn't—and if that $6 burger might actually have been the better choice.
