  • ★★★★½ Sirloin Samurai Bowl Visited Dec 5, 2017

This was my first time dining here. Overall, the food was good, although the prices were a little on the high side for the portion size.

I ordered the Samurai Rice Bowl with steak. The restaurant wasn't overly busy when I visited, with a small group that appeared to be attending some kind of seminar.

My food came out fairly quickly. The bowl featured sirloin cooked in a ginger sauce with sautéed onions and bell peppers, served over steamed rice, with an egg omelet on top. The steak was prepared nicely and had very good flavor. The vegetables were also cooked well, and the combination of the ginger sauce, steak, vegetables, rice, and egg made for a flavorful meal.

The overall dining experience was a little different from what I'm used to. The restaurant was dimly lit and had a bar, giving it more of a bar atmosphere than the typical lunch spot. I didn't mind the atmosphere, but the service could have been better. When my food arrived, there was no silverware at the table, and it took a little while to get someone's attention. I also went unnoticed when I was ready to pay my bill and had to wait to get someone's attention again.

My biggest issue with the meal was the portion size. The food had good flavor, but the bowl was a little smaller than I expected. It wasn't so much the portion of steak, as the whole bowl. Even the steamed rice and vegetable portions were on the small side.

While I wasn't overly impressed with my first visit, I also wasn't turned off by the experience. The food itself was good, and I think there are enough other items on the menu that I'd be willing to give it another try, hoping the next visit is a better overall experience.
