Bisteak Mini Tacos & A Coke
I've visited the original location on West Ave a few times, and this newer location seems to be more efficient when it comes to service. We were through the counter, had our order in hand, and were seated at a table with drinks in about five minutes.
The food here is pretty good, and I'd say these are some of the better mini tacos I've had. The selection is a little limited, with five types of meat: bistec, lengua, tripas, cabeza, and suadero. The tacos aren't particularly large even for a mini taco. Pricing is a little higher than some other taco places, with five mini tacos and a bottled soda costing about $11.
One thing I noticed was the same mixed-meat flavor I experienced at the other location. It seems like much of the meat picks up the flavors of the other meats, which I suspect comes from the different meats sharing the same grill and cooking utensils. The tacos themselves still had good flavor, but the individual meats didn't always taste as distinct as I'd expect.
The waitresses did a good job checking on us several times while we were at the table. The only real service issue came when it was time to pay. The cashier was having problems with the credit card machine, and the line started to build up while they worked through the issue.
Overall, I think the new location is pretty good. It's not my absolute favorite taco spot, but I really like the indoor dining area, especially compared with some nearby places that stay open late but only offer outdoor seating.
I'd definitely return, especially when the weather isn't cooperating. This is the kind of food that's perfect on a cold or rainy day.— Paul
