Had Only Had Frozen California Pizza Kitchen Up Until This Visit
My first visit to a California Pizza Kitchen. I had tried their frozen pizzas before, and when stores stopped carrying the Thai Chicken Pizza, I was pretty disappointed. I decided to give the restaurant a try, hoping they still offered it.
I visited with a friend, and we both ordered pizzas. The prices were a little on the high side, but these are specialty pizzas served in a full-service restaurant, so I wasn't expecting typical pizza-place prices.
It was a busy night with almost every table occupied. Our pizzas took a while to come out. The wait wasn't unreasonable considering how busy they were, but it definitely wasn't a quick meal either.
The pizza itself was decent, but I felt like it was missing something. Surprisingly, I thought the frozen version actually had more flavor. Some of the toppings on my pizza also seemed a little undercooked. After waiting around 30 minutes for the pizza, though, I decided to just go with it rather than send it back.
Overall, the meal was OK, but the experience was pretty mediocre. Service was somewhat spotty, the wait was longer than I would have liked, and the final quality of the pizza was decent but nothing particularly memorable.
I haven't returned since this visit. I wouldn't completely rule out giving California Pizza Kitchen another try in the future, but I left this first visit feeling pretty underwhelmed.— Paul
