Not What I Consider A Real Cajun Boil, But Decent Enough
I'm a big fan of crawfish boils, so when I heard about this place, I knew I had to give it a try.
They offer several seasoning options for the crawfish, including Cajun, garlic butter, hot and sour, and a garlic butter Cajun combination. The crawfish is ordered by the pound, while sides such as corn and potatoes are added individually.
The crawfish arrives in a tied plastic bag, which you tear open and dump directly onto the table. It's a fun and messy way to eat, and the presentation definitely adds to the experience. One thing that stood out was that the seasoning seemed to be added after the crawfish was boiled, so most of the seasoning stays on the outside of the shells rather than being absorbed into the meat. The seasonings themselves were quite strong, so there was plenty of flavor on the outside of the crawfish, but it left the crawfish themself with a weaker boil flavor.
They also offer beignet sticks, which were interesting and different from what I was expecting. Instead of the big, puffy, square pieces of fried dough typically associated with beignets, these were more like a basket of fried dough sticks. They were still enjoyable, but definitely not the traditional beignet I had in mind.
Overall, this is still a pretty long way from an authentic Cajun crawfish boil, particularly in the way the seasoning is applied. That said, the crawfish was still very tasty, and the whole experience was enjoyable. If you're looking for a traditional Louisiana-style boil, this may not completely satisfy that craving, but it's still worth trying if you're a fan of crawfish and want something a little different.— Paul
