Average Flavor & Selection For A Small Town Chinese Buffet
I've eaten here a few times over the years, and I'm not sure if the restaurant changed ownership somewhere along the way, but the quality of the buffet seems to have improved somewhat compared with my earlier visits.
On my most recent visit, the food was decent overall, although I still felt the buffet was somewhat lacking when it came to both selection and flavor. The selection consisted mostly of the basic Chinese buffet staples, including beef and broccoli, sesame chicken, egg rolls, egg drop soup, and similar dishes. There was enough to put together a meal, but I didn't find a particularly large variety of choices.
Some of the food also seemed like it had been sitting on the buffet for a while. A few items were tougher than they should have been, while others were simply bland and could have used more seasoning or flavor. There were also several empty spots on the buffet during my visit, which made the selection feel even more limited.
That said, I should give them a little leeway because of the time I visited. I was there fairly late in the afternoon, before the dinner rush, so there's a good chance I was getting some of the leftovers from the lunch period rather than freshly prepared food. That could certainly explain some of the issues with texture and freshness.
I was nearby and decided to give the restaurant another try after having eaten here several times in the past. While I wouldn't say the meal was bad, it still didn't give me much reason to make a special trip back.
The buffet has improved somewhat compared with what I remember, but the limited selection, lack of any standout items, and some of the food appearing to have been sitting out kept the meal from being particularly memorable.— Paul
