Brought Some Northerners To Henrys For Tex-Mex.
This was my first time dining at this location of Henry’s. I had been to the location on 410 before, so I was curious to see how this one compared. The food was about what I expected from Henry’s, but the restaurant itself is noticeably smaller and has a different atmosphere. The 410 location has more of a bar-and-restaurant feel, while this location is smaller and feels more like a straightforward neighborhood restaurant.
I brought some friends from up north here because I wanted them to try puffy tacos and experience some real San Antonio-style Tex-Mex food. Puffy tacos are one of those things that can be hard to find outside of San Antonio, so this seemed like as good a place as any to introduce them to them. since its one of the oldest places to serve them.
We ordered several plates of puffy tacos, including combinations with different meats, along with some enchiladas. One thing I like about Henry’s is that you don't have to stick with just one type of meat. You can order combination plates with different meats, which makes it easy to try a few different options in one meal.
Everything came out quickly and was served hot. The puffy tacos had the crisp, airy shells I was hoping for, and the different meats gave everyone a chance to try something a little different. The enchiladas were good as well, although I didnt recommend them, they wanted to try them, and overall the food was exactly what I was looking for when I brought my friends here.
This was another good experience at Henry's, and I'm glad I brought my friends here to try some authentic San Antonio puffy tacos and Tex-Mex.— Paul
