Visited With A Friend So They Could Try Some Cheap Tex-Mex
I've eaten at Tink-a-Tako a few times, although I've never dined in before. The food has been good as usual, although there was a bit of a wait for some of the items on this visit. I ordered the Tink's Special, which is an enchilada plate with carne guisada, and added a puffy taco as well.
The cheese enchilada was as usual, pretty decent but I wouldn't say it was amazing. The rice and beans were fairly average, while the puffy taco was tasty but not quite good enough to make my list of favorite tacos. Overall, most of the food was somewhere around average. The flavors are a little better than what I've had at many places, but Tink-a-Tako has a somewhat different style of Mexican food than some of the other Tex-Mex restaurants around town.
We finished the meal with an order of sopapillas, which was an interesting surprise. Instead of the larger, traditional sopapillas I'm used to seeing, the plate came with several small triangles topped with whipped cream and a cherry. I've never seen them served quite like this before. They weren't anything spectacular, but the order was only $1.25, so at that price, it was hard to complain. They were fresh and had decent flavor.
Service was good overall, although it could have been a little better. Our drinks weren't refilled for quite a while, and we wanted to order another item but never had the waiter come back around. Despite that, the meal was pretty good, and Tink-a-Tako remains a place I'd stop by again.— Paul
