Decent Sushi, Seafood, & Dim Sum Selections
I've eaten at this location three times since it opened. Compared to some of the other Lin's Buffet locations in San Antonio, I was a little disappointed, although this seems to be a more popular and busier location.
The dim sum selection is relatively small but pretty good, with options like shumai and custard buns. The sushi selection is also decent, with at least a dozen varieties to choose from, along with nigiri. I do feel the selection at the Southside location may be slightly better, though.
One recurring issue is food availability. The sushi bar sometimes runs low, and it can take a while for everything to be replenished. The dim sum also seems to run out fairly frequently. Aside from these occasional problems, the overall selection is good, and most of the food has been flavorful. A few items stand out, particularly the stuffed crab, which is very good. If you visit on the weekend, the crab legs are also worth trying.
My biggest complaint is the communication at the food stations. None of the employees working in that area seemed to speak English during my visits, making it difficult to ask about items that had run out or request something specific. On two occasions, I had to ask my waiter for help, and they had to find someone who could translate.
One thing I really appreciate is having a buffet like this in the area. There hadn't been any other nearby buffet options for years, so I was glad to see Lin's open here.
For the price, this buffet offers better value than many other options around San Antonio. Despite some inconsistencies with food availability and communication, the value in an area with otherwise no Chinese buffets make it a welcome addition to the area.— Paul
