  Different Brands & Different Items Than Large City Chains

  I’ve started stopping at Food King every time I pass through Devine or am in the area for work. Even though the store is fairly small compared with the larger grocery stores in San Antonio, it carries a surprisingly wide variety of products that are difficult to find at the big chains.
  
  I’ve found regional products that are hard to find elsewhere, brands that are priced lower than what I normally see in San Antonio, and meat prices that have beaten both H-E-B and Walmart on several of my visits. The meat combo packs are especially worth checking out. They include options like steak, sausage, fajita meat, carne asada, chicken, and more. They even have a taco pack that includes three types of seasoned meat, chicken, beef, and pork, already cut into taco-sized pieces.
  
  The bacon prices have also been really good, and even the canned and bottled soft drinks are often cheaper than what I find elsewhere. They carry Pepsi and Coke products in some unusual bottle sizes and ounce amounts that I don't commonly see anywhere else.
  
  Another thing that keeps me coming back is the selection of ice cream and other regional products that aren't typically available at the major San Antonio grocery chains. I’ve even found Young Guns Hatch Chile sauces in large jugs that are difficult to find outside of New Mexico.
  
  What surprises me most is that I’m still finding new things every time I visit. Food King may be a relatively small grocery store, but its selection of regional products, specialty items, and competitive prices have definitely made me a regular customer. This is one of those stores I now make a point of stopping at whenever I’m passing through Devine.
