  • ★★★★½ Koobideh Kabab Naan Grilled Vegetables Dill Rice Zaatar & Oil Dip Visited Jun 4, 2024

Pretty Good Mediterranean Food, Some Items Were Hit or Miss.

I've dined here twice now, and the food has been good both times. What really impressed me, though, were the grilled vegetables that came with my meal. On my first visit they told me that some people actually order an extra skewer of vegetables, and it's available by request. After trying them, I can definitely understand why.

Fresh naan bread is brought to the table before the food arrives, along with olive oil mixed with zaatar spice for dipping. Table service has been good on both of my visits. Our drinks have always stayed full, and we've never had a long wait to be seated or for our food to arrive.

The shish kabobs have been really good every time, and the rice and other items have been authentic and full of flavor. My only real complaint is the portion size. The portions on certain items are small but large on others. Prices are also a bit higher on certain things.

On this visit I ordered the Koobideh Kabab, with Dill Rice. I also ordered the extra vegetable kabab with my plate. The Koobideh was as before, very good, the Dill Rice was a new item I was trying, in an attempt to find rice similar to what I used to get at another place that closed. It sadly was not a match. It was decent, but not really what I was looking for. The extra grilled vegetables didnt taste the same as the previous visit which was disappointing. Leaving me regretting having ordered them. They flavor was totally different this time.

The photo of the Naan brought out was from our previous visit, a huge piece with 2 bowls of oil.. this visit the serving was much smaller.

It seems the flavor can vary from visit to visit, as does the portion size on some things. The food is good, but just across 2 visits I'm seeing inconsistency across identical menu items. Nothing that would prevent me from returning, but I'll think twice before ordering extra veggies again.

If you enjoy Mediterranean food, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try, especially if you're on the northeast side of San Antonio.
