Back To Try A Poke Bowl Special
I came back to Ali's Cove for a second visit, this time hoping to try one of the daily lunch specials. Unfortunately, I arrived around 12:45, which is pretty late for the specials here. They close at 3, and the limited-availability items can sell out quickly.
Since the special I had planned on trying was already gone, I ordered the spicy ahi tuna poke bowl instead. I'm actually glad I did because it was excellent. This was one of the most flavorful poke bowls I've had, and what I really liked was that it wasn't overloaded with toppings. The ingredients were well balanced, allowing the tuna and other flavors to come through.
The rice was fresh and steaming hot, and the entire bowl came together really well. If you like poke, this is definitely something I'd recommend trying.
Ali's Cove continues to offer rotating specials and limited-availability items, which are posted on Ali's Facebook page. If you want to try one of those, you'll probably want to plan ahead and get there early, since many of them sell out quickly.— Paul

Great Food, Authentic Flavors, Friendly Staff
If you're looking to get a taste of Hawaii, Ali's Cove is a great place to go. The restaurant features authentic Hawaiian flavors, and the staff really completes the experience with the kind of hospitality you'd expect to receive if you were visiting the islands. Greetings when you walk in and out, and even the occasional hug or shoulder bump, aren't uncommon.
On my first visit, I ordered the Kalbi ribs with Hawaiian macaroni salad and white rice. Everything was really good, and the Kalbi had great flavor. The macaroni salad was also interesting because it's actually a combination of macaroni and potato salad, which was something different. The plate was a bit small for the price, but this is somewhat of a niche market that isn't really available.
Ali's Cove also rotates special daily menu items, often featuring limited-availability Hawaiian dishes.
Ali posts these on his Facebook page, so if there's something specific you want to try, it's worth keeping an eye on the posts. Some of the specials can sell out within an hour of opening.
This was a great first experience, and the combination of good food and the friendly Hawaiian-style hospitality made me want to come back and try more.— Paul
