All The Items I Bought Were Good. But Nothing Was Labeled Or Priced
I stopped in for the first time to see what they had to offer. The bakery had a good selection of items, but the biggest issue I had was the lack of pricing and labeling on the pastry cabinets. Very few items had any indication of what they were or how much they cost, which made ordering more confusing than it needed to be.
One entire cabinet was filled with large sugar cookies that had been cut into different shapes and decorated with icing. It included footballs, butterflies, and other designs. When I asked about them, I was told that everything in that cabinet was a sugar cookie and that they were simply decorated differently.
I decided to pick up a few items. I knew one was a sugar cookie, one appeared to be a lemon bar, and the last looked like it might be a brownie. When I asked for a lemon bar, the employee grabbed the item I had in mind, so I assumed my guess was correct. As for the last item, I'm still not entirely sure what it was. It looked like a brownie, but the flavor was different enough that it may have been coffee- or cocoa-based. I'm honestly still not sure.
The lemon bar was good. It was fresh and had a nice flavor. The large decorated sugar cookie was also good, and whatever the third item was, it was enjoyable as well. The total for the three items was about $8, which seemed a little high to me, especially since I never received a breakdown of what the individual prices were.
The lack of labels and pricing was probably the biggest drawback of the visit. I found myself spending more time trying to figure out what everything was, how much it cost, and listening to other customers order than actually looking at the bakery selection. I didn't even take pictures of everything because the whole ordering process caught me off guard.
Overall, the baked goods I tried were good, but I found the purchasing process confusing. I don't mind asking questions about specialty items, but having to ask what an item is and how much it costs for nearly everything makes the experience more difficult than it needs to be. With the prices seeming a little high as well, I'm not sure if I'll return.— Paul
