Wide Variety Of Flavorful Sides, Large Portions & Good Service. An Excellent Experience.
We decided to try this Korean BBQ restaurant after passing by and noticing a sign on the street corner advertising all-you-can-eat dining. Both the exterior and interior resemble a bar more than a traditional Korean restaurant, but the dining area has some impressive modern features. The tables have built-in burners, and the adjustable vent hoods above them are practically silent, which was a nice touch.
After being seated, we discovered that the large street-corner sign advertised an incorrect price. The vinyl banner hanging above the entrance listed the actual price, which was a few dollars more. Despite the difference, we decided to stay and give the all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ a try to see how it compared with other restaurants in San Antonio and Austin.
We were pleasantly surprised when the appetizers and side dishes arrived. Along with the usual banchan, we received a bean sprout soup, a large bowl of salad, and a potato omelet. The side dishes had excellent flavor, and our waitress was quick to replenish them as we finished. Some of the options included cucumber kimchi, pickled daikon radish, potatoes, kimchi cabbage, and Chinese broccoli dressed with sesame oil.
We started with some brisket and pork belly, and both were tender and flavorful. Next, we tried the pork and beef bulgogi. Those were good as well, but I preferred the brisket and pork belly.
We were so satisfied with what we'd already tried that we re-ordered those items and never made it to the rest of the meats available. You'll probably want a group of at least four people if you hope to sample more of the menu, as the servings were pretty decently sized.
Everything we tried was flavorful, served in generous portions, and consistent with the Korean BBQ experience you would expect from an authentic Korean restaurant. The quality of the side dishes was especially impressive, with better flavor than I've experienced at most Korean restaurants.
Compared to other all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ spots in San Antonio and Austin, this may be one of the best options in San Antonio. The pricing was competitive and may even be a little lower than some alternatives, while the quality of the food and banchan were really what made it stand out.
I'll definitely be coming back with friends so we can try more of the meats and enjoy another meal here.— Paul
