Tacos Needed More Flavor, Unable To Order Even With Broken Spanish

The store itself is always well stocked, and the baked goods are usually fresh. The taco kitchen, however, has been more hit or miss. I've walked up and decided to pass, when taco meat appeared dry, or as if it had been sitting out for a while, not even stirred.

On this visit, I had to wait a few minutes to place my order. They served the 3 people in front of me, then had me wait at the counter while they went to the back to clean items, prepare some items for cooking, and get food cooking before returning. Ordering was also a little difficult. I understand a decent amount of Spanish, but I still had trouble communicating exactly what I wanted, so I ended up having to point at the items. I later discovered there were plates and other options that probably would have been a better value, but due to the communication barrier I was unable to find out.

I happened to visit on a day when much of the food looked fairly fresh, so I ordered two tacos: one with picadillo and another with fajita and grilled onions. The picadillo taco was a good size and had decent flavor, although it needed some salt and salsa. The fajita taco was less impressive. The meat had a decent texture, but was lacking flavor. The peppers and onions were pretty much all the flavor. Without adding some salt and hot sauce, the taco was flavorless.

Overall, the tacos were somewhat underwhelming when it came to flavor. The prices for the individual tacos weren't too bad, but I would have liked to have known about the plate options since they offered a better value. Being able to communicate more easily with the employees would have helped as well.

If I return, I'll know to pay closer attention to the advertisements and signs at the beginning of the line for specials and meal options. I'll also know to grab some salt and salsa, since most of the items I tried here could have used a little more seasoning.
