Good Prices, Good Portions, The Carne Guisada Is Great
Several people had recommended this restaurant to me and couldn't believe I hadn't tried it yet, especially since I drive past it several times a week. I finally decided to stop in for a late lunch and see what I'd been missing.
I arrived around 4 p.m. and, even though the menu didn't specify lunch hours, I was still able to order from the lunch menu. I seated myself and picked up a menu at the register. It took a few minutes for someone to come over, but once the waitress arrived, service was pretty good. I ordered a Coke, which came as a fountain drink with free refills, and she brought chips and salsa to the table.
I decided on the Texas plate, which included two cheese enchiladas, carne guisada, rice, beans, salad, and guacamole. The meal also came with tortillas, and when the plate arrived, I was surprised by just how much food there was. It completely filled the plate, and halfway through the meal, I already knew I wasn't going to finish everything.
The food was very good overall. The cheese enchiladas were pretty good, and the rice and beans were good as well, but the carne guisada was the real standout. It had excellent flavor, and I could definitely see myself coming back to try the carne guisada tacos.
At just $7, the Texas plate was an incredible value for the amount of food you received. This is definitely the kind of place to visit when you're really hungry and want a filling meal without spending much money.
After the initial wait, the service was good. The waitress checked on me twice while I was eating to make sure everything was okay, which I appreciated.
I'd happily eat here again for three reasons: affordable prices, generous portions, and good food. If you're in the area and looking for a Mexican restaurant to try, this place is worth checking out.
