Tried The Chille Relleno
This visit was just a random stop. I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat, so I figured I'd go in and pick something off the menu I hadn't tried before. I'd never had the chile relleno there, so I decided to order one to give it a try.
The chile relleno that came out was a bit different from other places I've had it. At most places, the peppers are coated in a thin, smooth, battered coating that's kind of fluffy. The version here had a crispier batter with a more defined texture to it. It came topped with sauce and a drizzle of crema, with a bit of salad and diced tomato on the side. I ordered the sirloin meat as the filling, and the Tex-Mex sauce on top. It was an interesting take on the chile relleno that I wasn't expecting.
The flavor was decent, and the texture was a nice departure from a regular chile relleno, but overall it was the meat stuffing inside that gave the dish most of its flavor.
Now as far as other items go, your meal comes with complimentary chips and salsa. You can request a side of a jalapeno cilantro dip. Its like ranch on steroids. Its got lime and jalapeno flavor, its creamy its got cilantro, and its all blended up in buttermilk to make a dip that is just amazing. I've purchased containers of this to go, buts its free if you ask for it at your table.
Not sure I'd specifically come back for another relleno, but it was pretty decent. As for the jalapeno dip, I've already come back a few times to get my fix.— Paul
