Good Lunch Specials With Spring Roll & Soup
I’ve been eating at Thai House for many years now, and it’s one of the Thai restaurants I frequently visit for lunch. Their lunch specials are one of the reasons I keep coming back. The portions are generous, the prices are fair, and the food has consistently had good flavor.
One of my favorite things to order is the Beef Pad Thai. I’ve probably ordered it a dozen times over the years, and there has only been one visit where it wasn’t consistent with what I’ve come to expect from the restaurant. The Pad Thai has a good balance of flavor, and the beef is plentiful enough that you don’t feel like you’re just getting noodles with a little meat mixed in. It’s one of those dishes I can order repeatedly without getting tired of it.
The lunch plates also come with a soup of the day and a fried spring roll, which makes the lunch special feel like a complete meal rather than just an entrée. The spring roll is a nice addition, and the soup changes depending on the day.
If you visit during lunch, be prepared for it to be busy. Thai House is a popular lunch spot, and it’s not uncommon to see a group or two waiting to be seated. Once you’re at a table and place your order, the food usually comes out fairly quickly, but getting a table can sometimes take up to 20 minutes. Early lunch is generally not as bad, while between about 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., the place can get pretty crazy.
You’ll see a wide variety of people dining here. I frequently see military personnel, which makes sense with the nearby base, along with plenty of people who appear to be working in the area.
The restaurant is in a stand-alone building with parking on both sides. During the busiest part of lunch, the parking lot can fill up quickly, with cars sometimes overflowing into the empty lot near the street intersection. The limited seating and busy lunch rush are really the only reasons I don't eat here even more often.
Overall, Thai House remains one of my regular choices if Im in the area for lunch. The Beef Pad Thai is consistently good, the lunch portions are decent, and getting a soup and fried spring roll with the lunch special makes it a good value.— Paul
