Late Night Visit With Good Food & Service
This was my first time dining at this particular location, although it's been about 16 years since my last visit to any Las Palapas.
I stopped in late at night, around 2 a.m., and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly everything came out. I ordered what I believe was the Palapas Special, which included an enchilada plate with a side of fajitas. Chips and salsa were complimentary, and I finished the meal with a full order of sopapillas.
The enchiladas and fajitas were decent, but neither was among the best I've had in town. I'd rate them just above average. The beans, however, had an unusual flavor that reminded me of lime or something similarly sour. They were the one item on my plate that I couldn't finish.
The biggest surprise was the sopapillas. I wasn't expecting much and thought they might be a disappointing attempt at the dessert, but they came out steaming hot and were actually really good.
Service was quite good for the middle of the night. My waitress checked on me several times, and when I ordered dessert, she quickly updated my tab and brought it back. The sopapillas arrived at my table in less than 10 minutes.
It was a decent experience, considering how limited the options are for dining at 2 a.m., the combination of reasonably priced food, quick service, and a few good menu items.— Paul
