Overall A Good Buffet, A Few Poorly Prepared Items, But Several That Were Good
I happened to visit on Sunday, which was Steak Night. With a players card, the buffet was $25, so we decided to give it a try rather than come on another night, figuring the Steak Night buffet would have a higher-end selection.
We were seated promptly and took a walk around the buffet to see what was available. The selection was impressive, with a custom pasta bar, made-to-order pho noodle bar, steak station, Italian, Asian and Mexican dishes, a salad bar, and a large dessert bar.
The steak was one of the highlights of the meal. Mine had nice marbling, was tender, and had plenty of juice running from it. I ordered it medium rare, and it came out pretty close to perfect. The asparagus was also cooked properly, still having a nice crunch. The cheesecake I tried for dessert was excellent, and the dessert selection overall was impressive, with far more options than I could possibly try in one visit.
There were a couple of items that were complete misses. The Korean BBQ ribs were more like roasted ribs, with no real grilled flavor. They were also drowning in sauce, which made them soggy, and the flavor didn't resemble Korean BBQ to me. The crème brûlée was another disappointment. I really enjoy crème brûlée and can easily eat several when it's done well, but this one was lumpy, lacked much vanilla or custard flavor, and tasted more like an instant pudding mix. I didn't even finish the portion I put on my plate.
Our waitress provided good service throughout the meal. She checked on us regularly and brought steak knives and sauces as soon as she saw us returning from the steak station. She was attentive without being intrusive.
Overall, the buffet had a mix of some really good items and some that were pretty poor. The biggest issue with the misses wasn't necessarily that they were poorly prepared, but that they didn't really taste like the dishes they were supposed to be. That said, there was enough variety and enough good food that the misses didn't really take away from the overall enjoyment of the meal. I would definitely return and try the buffet again.— Paul
