Seafood Platter Is Almost What I Always Order Here
The Seafood Platter at Sea Island is probably my favorite meal on the menu. It comes with a piece of catfish, a piece of whitefish, two large stuffed shrimp, two regular shrimp, and your choice of two sides. Both the Seafood Platter and the Aransas Platter are generously sized meals, and I rarely manage to finish everything, usually leaving enough for a small box of leftovers.
The catfish always tastes fresh, and the coating has a good texture without being gritty. The whitefish is equally good, consistently flaky and moist, with a thin batter that gives it a nice, crisp crust.
For sides, I really enjoy the red potatoes, which come in a flavorful butter sauce seasoned with salt and other spices. I tend to switch up my second side, but the rice pilaf is one of my most frequent choices. It comes in a generous portion and pairs well with the fish.
The tartar sauce is pretty good, although I wouldn't put it in my top three. It would probably land somewhere in my top ten. After eating here many times, I've regularly noticed pieces of boiled egg in the sauce, so I know that's one of the ingredients.
Service is consistently good. During dinner, the manager makes a point of stopping by tables to check on customers, and requests for extra butter, tartar sauce, or other items are handled quickly. Between the generous portions, consistent food quality, and good flavor, Sea Island continues to be a reliable choice for seafood.— Paul
