Amazing Beignets, Atmosphere in The Heart of the French Quarter

I've visited this location a few times over the years. It never disappoints. The beignets here are second to none. I've tried beignets at a decent number of places, and while some are pretty decent, the ones served here are the absolute best I've had.

The beignets come out piping hot, burried in powdered sugar, and when paired with milk or coffee make an amazing snack. They collapse when biten into, with a light flakey skin, and a soft airy doughy layer. The restaurants dining area a patio area under a striped canopy offers great views of the street, horse drawn carriages, and Jackson Square. Buildings surrounding the restaurant have old fashioned architecture with wrought iron and complete the ambiance. Creating an atmosphere that just ads to the experience.

They have a unique texture and flavor that just cant be duplicated. The restaurant itself has said that despite there being other locations and people wanting to invest into franchising, when cooked elsewhere, the beignets just dont come out the same. They claim it has to do with the mineral content of the water in New Orleans, and the fact the original location is located below sea level in the french quarter causing the dough to cook and rise differently.

Prices for the beignets despite being a world reknown item have remained affordable, with an order of 3 priced under $4 at the time of this review. (update $4.50 in 2026)
