    Delicious Hungarian Sausage and Pierogi's

I visited the Rowley Inn while visiting the Christmas Story Museum. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the Kielbasa & Pierogi plate which consisted of 2 links of Hungarian Garlic Sausage and 3 Pierogi's with grilled peppers & onions, saurkraut and sour cream.

Everything on the plate was great. Grilled perfectly, steamed perfectly, full of flavor and plated in a visually appealing way. I was absoutely surprised by this level of food coming from a small brewpub. The sausage casing had a nice snap to it, but wasnt so stiff the skin wasnt chewable. The sausage had a really good grill and garlic flavor, and a decent amount of spice to it. The pierogi's were steamed nicely, soft on the outside, thick filling that was a good internal temperature, which complimented the sausage nicely. The peppers and onions went well with both items, and added color to the plate, acting both as a garnish, and added flavor.

I contacted the owner after my visit for more info and discovered the sausage was made in Ohio at a European owned meat market, and the pierogi's were also made nearby, by a woman who makes limited batches for the restaurant. The fact these items arent mass produced, and were made by people using authentic recipes really came thru. The food was of a level totally unexpected.

This was one of my first visits to the Northeast part of the US, and was one of the highlights of the trip.
