Had Seen Mentions Of This Place. Its Hidden On The Backside Of A Gas Station
I'd had this place on my list to try, especially since they are open a bit later than most places, but just hadnt gone over to pick up anything.
The location near downtown, is attached to the back corner of a gas station. I originally found them listed on "To Good To Go" an app where you can get overstocked food items, and leftovers (pre-cooked) items of the day at a discount. The special was listed as $20 worth of food for $8. So I figured why not.
I placed my order went over to pick up my food, but ended up receiving a single box which seemed a bit odd. The plate I received was listed on the menu as an $11 plate. Despite the fact it seems they are just selling plates at a discount on that app, I am reviewing the food itself, at its menu price.
The restaurant, has no dining area, only a pickup window. When I arrived back home the box was sweating, so my chicken strips were a tad bit soggy. They tied the plastic bag shut as well, which trapped all the steam.
The chicken strips were thick, the batter on them had good flavor, a nice spice added to them, and the dipping sauce just added to the flavor. Despite the steam having taken away some of the crispness, the strips were still very good. I reheated them in my airfryer which helped quite a bit. The fries were good, crinkle cut, decently crispy, could have used some more of their seasoned salt, but overall pretty decent.
The portion size for the 5 strips was good, as these were probably equal to 1 1/2 of the strips you get at other places.
Overall I would go back. While there were many drawbacks, nowhere to eat, being in a bit of a sketchier neighborhood, having the food steaming in its bag taking away its crispness, the flavor and portion size made up for that. Im not a chicken person, so you wont see many reviews for fried chicken or chicken items on here, but for me to say this place is worth giving a try, it was some of the better chicken strips I've had.— Paul
