Smelt Amazing, But Was Less Than Average Flavor
I stopped at this gas station to fill up with gas, and while standing at the pump smelled the amazing aroma of BBQ in the air.
The restaurant located in an attached unit to the gas station, still dawns signage from the previous BBQ restaurant at the location (Big Country BBQ). The new restaurant is named A&D BBQ & Seafood.
I went inside and decided to order the 1/3lb 1 meat plate and saw red beans and rice on the menu, listed as premium side for a small upcharge, so I had high hopes for the side as well.
My order came out decently quick, I sat down at the table and opened the box, and inside was someone elses rib plate. After a few minutes the correct order came out and I got to try this amazing smelling food.
The brisket was sliced decently thick, it had a very thin bark on it, almost more like a skin, and sadly this was where all the flavor was. The meat itself was very lacking flavorwise, which was a disappointment after smelling it in the wind outside. On an upside despite forgetting to ask for moist or marbled brisket, the brisket I received was still decently moist.
The red beans and rice were more of a soupy beans served atop rice. The beans had very good flavor and were loaded with bacon. However the portion size for the meal left something to be desired.
For $21 I got 1/3 lb brisket, a small serving of red beans and rice, and a canned soda.— Paul
