First Burger I've Had Served Atop Fried Brussel Sprouts! It Was Good!

It had been a while since my last visit to Hopdoddy and a customer of mine had invited me to join him and one of his employees for dinner.

When I started to look at the updated menu, I saw mention of deep fried brussel sprouts as an appetizer, I knew this was something I was definitely interested in. Then I saw they were available as an alternative to a burger bun on all burgers. A bowl of fried brussel sprouts topped with your burger patty and all its toppings.

The decision on what to order was easy, but which burger to order. I'd never tried the Mother Nature burger before, which has au poivre sauce (an item Id only had on the Mr Juicy chicken fried steak), a fried egg, crispy onions and queso fresco. It sounded interesting, and my dinner companion said it was his favorite burger there.

Next up was a drink, in the past I had tried some of the specialty liquor shakes at other locations. I figured why not try the Kahlua vanilla shake.

The order came out, a bowl filled with fried brussel sprouts, my meat patty and all its toppings on top. While not all that visually appealing, the flavor and serving size made up for it. I was barely able to finish the bowl. The brussel sprouts had a nice crisp texture to them, every single leaf was separated, and fried just enough to make them crisp, but not so that they were dried out. They were seasoned nicely, not too salty, and they accompanied the burger patty and its toppings very nicely. This is an item I would return for.

The Kahlua shake was good as well, but topped with an overly generous amount of whipped cream, and served in a huge bowl type glass, not the pint glass I had received in Austin years ago.

We were seated at the bar, so we were given decent service throughout the meal. Refills on drinks, extra sauce, ect.. were brought almost immediately. This might be the best place to sit if you want the extra service.

Overall the meal was great. I tried 3 new items, the shake, the Mother Nature burger, and the fried brussel sprouts. All 3 items were really good, and items I would order again.

I'd like to thank my customer and friend Joe for the dinner, company and giving me the opportunity to try some new items.
