Was Asked To Try This Item As Part Of A Survey. It Was Actually Pretty Good
I had seen this item advertised on TV.. Im neither a pimento cheese or chicken enthusiast. But I visited and tried it. Im always up for trying something new, and other than a pimento burger at a place in Oklahoma, this was the most recent pimento item I had seen at a fast food chain.
As Mike from Breaking Bad called pimento cheese, "the caviar of the south".
I ordered my sandwich, which came bundled with a drink and side for about $8. Not bad price wise. The order came out pretty quick, after about 3 minutes in the drive thru.
I unwrapped it when I got home, and the chicken patty was a thick, juicy piece of chicken. I'll admit, I've tried many of the popular chicken sandwiches out there including Popeyes, but this piece of chicken was better than all of them, and this is where they get a score above a 9. The crunchiness was there, the juicy meat was there, it was tender, not dry at all, and probably 1.5" thick in the center. My only criticism would be I would have liked a bit more saltiness and spice to it.
Now as far as the pimento cheese goes, I couldn't really tell it was there, it added a smoothness to the sandwich, it added a little bit of a sharp bite flavor wise, but it wasn't overpowering, it wasn't enough of a flavor that I would call it a pimento sandwich more than a chicken sandwich, the chicken still held its place as the main flavor and texture, but the cheese while there, was just there..
I'll also add that the battered fries I chose as a side were tasty as well, another item that lifted this meal up a bit more. They were crispy, they had a nice flavor to them. It was a nice switch from plain fries.
Despite not being a fan of chicken or pimento cheese, this is an item I would go back for. After trying this sandwich, I'd return for a regular chicken sandwich. Its actually one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had. In the past I had only tried their chicken, and strips.
