Had Never Noticed The Country Fried Sirloin. It Was Pretty Decent.
Another update review, not really a full review. I recently visited the Texas Roadhouse in Live Oak. I generally get a sirloin steak when I go to Texas Roadhouse, but hadnt realized they had a chicken fried steak, and I've done my best to try every chicken fried steak I run across. So I felt like I needed to give this one a try. Along with the steak I decided to give the chili a try as one of my sides, yet another item I had never tried here before.
Service
Service was about par for Texas Roadhouse, I was seated fairly quickly, my order was taken, and I was checked on regularly. I did receive a wrong item, my steak came out with brown gravy instead of white, but it was taken back and replaced really quickly, so quickly I was rather curious how it was possible. A manager/supervisor brought the replacement out to me.
The Chicken Fried Steak (Country Fried Sirloin)
I wasn't sure what to expect from a chicken fried steak here, no one had every recommended I try the CFS from here, and up until recently I wasn't really aware they offered one. What arrived at my table was a medium sized CFS, breaded with a nice crispy crust that wasn't too thick, but was similar to fried chicken. The meat inside was definitely a better cut of meat, you could see the grain of the meat inside, so its definitely not a cheaper processed or ground patty being passed off as a steak, this was sirloin and it was decently tender. (Included a pic of the inside of steak)
The Chili
The chili was pretty good, but they ran out of onion as they made my order. It was Texas chili, so no beans. I didnt think it was overly unique and had a familiar flavor. But as an appetizer, it was a good start to the meal and more filling than a bowl of veggies as a side.
Loaded Bake Potato
Not much to say about the loaded potato. It was good, nothing overly impressive, but again another very filling side. Ordering it loaded improved it vastly, as Ive ordered it plain before, and was just too plain.
Overall Impression:
The steak with the potato and the chili, made for a very filling meal. Service was good, pricing was fair for it being a better cut of meat on the steak. The flavor of the steak was good, better than many of the places I've tried, size & flavor wise it fell in the middle for the price. The chili was decent, not something Id come specifically for, but would consider again for a side dish.— Paul
