  • ★★★★½ Beef Pad See Ew Spring Rolls (Harumaki) Kao Soy Visited Jan 15, 2025

Upscale Appearance, Good Flavors, Wide Variety

A Taste of Thailand in a Refined Setting
I recently visited a new restaurant that has taken over the location once occupied by Bangkok 54 Thai. The space has undergone a complete renovation, transforming it into a more upscale dining experience with a modern and inviting atmosphere.

The menu is impressively vast, featuring many dishes I hadn’t encountered before. For this first visit however, I decided to stick with a familiar favorite, which would give me a baseline for evaluating the food.

    What We Ordered
I chose the beef Pad See Ew and a Fried Spring Roll appetizer, while my dining companion ventured into new territory with the Kao Soy, a dish I’d never tried before.

    Service and Timing
We were greeted warmly at the door and seated immediately. Our waitress was attentive, offering to explain or describe any menu items we had questions about. She even helped identify dishes from photos I showed her from Google reviews.

The appetizers arrived within 10 minutes, but the main dishes took about 40 minutes to be served. While the wait was longer than expected, the service remained attentive, with regular check-ins.

    Appetizers
The fried spring rolls were smaller than anticipated, and the portion size felt a bit underwhelming for the price. The photo only shows 1 roll, but they disappeared before I could snap a phoot. That said, they were cooked perfectly, with a flaky, crisp wrapper, but while the flavor was good, they were the smaller, skinnier type.

    Entrees
The beef Pad See Ew was served in a generous portion, with noodles cooked to perfection—they had just the right amount of browning which is a carmelization of the sauce. The dish wasn’t soupy, and the ingredients were well-balanced. A garnish of a small carrot flower added a nice touch. However, there was an abundance of spicy green Thai peppers. While the beef portion wasn’t overly generous, it was enough to feel satisfied.

The Kao Soy, served in a large bowl with a side of onions and other toppings, was an eye-catching dish. It featured a rich curry base with large bundle of crispy fried noodles on top. I had the chance to sample it, and the curry was delicious, creamy, flavorful, and something I’d definitely consider ordering on a future visit.

    Final Thoughts
Overall, the entrees were excellent in both quality and portion size, though the appetizers felt overpriced given their smaller portions. The service was a highlight, friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the meal.

While the pricing for some items is slightly higher than at other Thai restaurants, the quality of the food and the unique offerings justified the cost. My only suggestion would be to re-evaluate the portion sizes of the appetizers to better match their price point.

I would absolutely return, to explore more of the menu. This restaurant offers a fresh take on Thai cuisine in a refined setting, making it a solid choice for both familiar favorites and adventurous dining.
