  General Chicken tasted burnt, Rice was flavorless.

  This was my first visit to J-Plus, I've passed this place many times over the years, or at least think it was the same place. Theres always been a Chinese restaurant in the location, but never stopped to try it.
  
  Just recently I decided to stop for dinner, and check it out. My go-to item for first time visits to Chinese restaurants is either General Chicken, or Sesame Chicken. So thats what I ordered.
  
  The General Chicken was listed under the House Specialties on the menu. I was brought my eggroll and General Chicken at the same time, along with a bowl of fried rice.
  
  I ate the eggroll first, which was decent, but average, then tried some of the fried rice, which was pretty much egg and rice, it didnt have a distinct flavor of any kind.
  
  The general chicken looked promising, it had a darker color to the sauce, and was served next to half of a decoratively carved orange.
  
  I tried the general chicken, and it was a let down. The batter was a bit tough, and the sauce had a burnt, semi-smokey flavor. It wasnt bad enough that I thought it was actually burnt, but enough that I had to wonder if this was how it was supposed to be. Combined with the toughness, and the fact I had recently had dental surgery, it was almost inedible.
  
  I dug around, and tried several pieces of chicken, ultimately taking about half of my food to go.
  
  My waitress did check on me a few times. I didnt say anything about it, but as a first time visit, I wasn't sure what to expect. The menu also mentioned to order "white sauce" with your Chinese food, otherwise brown sauce would be used.. Im assuming this is for items like beef & broccoli ect..
  
  I was the only person dining in, 2 other people took orders to go while I was there. So with this 1 visit Im not sure what to think. The place has been around a long time. Google has a 3.9/5 score. The photos people post of the other items look amazing. Maybe I had a bad visit. But it took me a decade to try it... not sure If I'll return again. If you've eaten here and had something really good, please let me know. Im always willing to try it again.
