Some of the best Thai Food in San Antonio. Great Beef Salad.

Dahlia Thai, located on the corner of Wurzbach & Fredericksburg Rd, is housed in a location was formerly another Thai restaurant. I believe this restaurant opened sometime around 2018.

A friend had told me they had tried a new Thai restaurant with really good food, and until we arrived I wasn't quite sure where we were going.

We visited mid day on a Sunday, ordered a Yum Na (Beef Salad), an order of Pad See Eew (not pictured) and an order of Beef Pad Thai (medium hot). The beef salad came out after about 8 minutes, along with some extra plates, followed by our entrees about 10 minutes later.

Portion sizes proved to be generous across the board. The Yum Na alone could easily satisfy a single diner's appetite. Split as an appetizer, it left just enough room to delve into the entrées. The noodle dishes, in particular, were served in portions that rivaled double servings at other Thai establishments.

The Yum Na, having a unique flavor, was made with beef that was fully cooked, not served medium rare like many places, and covered in a sauce that was almost gravy like, rather than the light sauce many places use. The dark savory sauce appeared to have crushed toasted peanuts mixed in, which added to both its flavor and texture, and was a variant of beef salad I think I've only had one or two other places.

The Pad Thai, was equally good. The noodles, cooked until they had lightly browned yet retaining a satisfying chewiness, that was nearly a perfect "al dente". I've found that many restaurants pre-soak their noodles to speed up the cooking process, resulting in soggy noodles with little texture, but these noodles had plenty texture to them, which added to dish being extra filling. The large mound of noodles was topped with a portion of fresh bean sprouts. The entire dish pulled together by the sauce, that was imbued with both a sweet and savory flavor profile.

I did get a chance to try a little of the pad see eew, which was very similar to the pad Thai. It both appeared and tasted to have been made using the same sauce as the pad thai, but the dish itself had the added carrots and lack of green onion. Im not sure which of the two I would recommend over the other. Both had very good flavor.

Service was decent, and while prices were a bit above average, the portion sizes easily made up for the difference.
