General Chicken Here is Great. Decent Lunch Specials & Good Prices.

Having eaten at China Moon for lunch on numerous occasions, I recently decided to venture there for dinner, enticed by the reviews online particularly praising their General Chicken. As luck would have it, a tantalizing plate of General Chicken was brought to a nearby table as I sat waiting to order, sparking my craving to try this recommended dish here.

Opting for the dinner entrée, which included fried rice, two sides, and a bowl of soup, I selected an egg roll and crab rangoon alongside egg drop soup to complete my meal.

Sadly, I was told my egg drop soup would be delayed, as a fresh batch was being made, and while I anticipated some wait, I didnt expect my food to come out before the soup. The soup arrived just seconds after my meal, steaming hot, accompanied by a plate of crispy wonton chips. The soup was great, but having it arrive with the meal took away from being able to enjoy it fully.

The General Chicken however lived up to its reputation. The chicken pieces were generously sized and coated in a perfectly crisp batter. The sauce boasted a satisfying blend of garlic and green onion, rendering it thick and slightly sweet, elevating the flavor of the dish to the level of some of my favorites. A note to self: requesting extra sauce on my next visit seems like a promising idea to possibly move it into a top spot on my General Chicken review list.

While the portion of fried rice was abundant, its flavor leaned towards the simpler side. Nevertheless, the overall meal was fulfilling, with the freshly fried crab rangoon and egg roll providing delightful crunchy accompaniments. Special mention goes to the potent spicy mustard, which added an extra kick to the egg roll and had to be applied sparingly as it was literally breath taking.

Despite the minor hiccup of the soup arriving alongside the main course, the experience was thoroughly enjoyable.

China Moon offers both lunch specials and dinner options that deliver excellent value for money. If you've yet to experience their fare, I highly recommend giving it a try. And for fellow enthusiasts of General Chicken, China Moon might just become your new favorite haunt.

While I had remembered the food being pretty decent in the past, it would seem there has been a noticeable improvement, and with many places food quality declining post covid, my return to China Moon is certainly imminent.
