Homestyle Cooking with Good Service - A Menu With Variety
It was my first time eating here, and according to Google reviews the catfish, chicken fried steak, burgers, and enchiladas were the most recommended items. I had eaten fish twice the day before so I decided to add this one to my extensive chicken fried steak list.
I ordered the chicken fried steak, with a subbed loaded bake potato. The plate came with a salad as well. The prices here were pretty decent, plates starting at $8. The chicken fried steak with fries was $13, with baked potato $16.
My salad came out pretty quick, ordered with thousand island, all of the lettuce was fresh, no brown or soggy pieces. The size of the side salad was decently large, but not giant like some places, this could have been easily finished by most people who like salad. It came topped with mixed cheese, & bacon bits.
The chicken fried steak came out next along with the rest of my tables plates. The steak was decently sized, again, not overly large, but not small. A steak most people could finish if they were decently hungry. The breading was crisp, a few crunchy spots, but not overly thick, the meat was tender, juicy, and not chewy. It had decent flavor, nothing overly special, but a good chicken fried steak overall.
The loaded baked potato was decently sized as well. It was topped with sour cream, shredded cheese, bacon bits, and a few rings of green onion. The potato was decent, cooked well, but didnt really have any special flavor, it seemed like maybe it was put onto the grill for a bit, but Im not sure.
Others at my table ordered the chimichanga, fajita taco plate, cheeseburger, and sour cream chicken enchiladas. One person also ordered the margarita, which I tried a little bit of. It was good, wasnt weak, and had lots of tart flavor. The glass was a decently sized serving too, maybe 16oz.
My friends chimichanga was huge, its shown in the photos, covered the whole plate, and was at least 2-3" thick.
Our waitress stopped by frequently, everything came out as ordered, kitchen delivered all the food within 3 minutes of each other despite everyone ordering different items. Drinks were so large, I don't think anyone needed a refill.
Overall, the food was good, the service was good, the portions were large, and prices were fair. We ordered Mexican food, Burgers, & Comfort food, made special requests, substitutions and everything came out together and prepared correctly. This place has it together despite having such a diverse menu.
While I didnt have anything I would consider outstanding on this visit, everything was really good, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back and try another one of their items.
If your passing thru the area, I would highly recommend giving it a try.
