Good Food, Good Service.
I've eaten at Capparelli's several times in the past, and tried a variety of items, including the garlic pasta, the spaghetti, the chicken alfredo and the chicken parm with angel hair pasta this visit.
Of all my visits my favorites so far have to be the chicken alfredo, which was good, but not the best I've ever had, maybe top 5.. and then the chicken parmesan which I had this most recent visit.
The meal started off with fresh garlic bread brought to the table, and a large salad, which had olives and cherry tomatos but no cheese. The salad was also very heavily coated with vinaigrette dressing. So if your not a fan, you might ask for it on the side.
The food came out pretty quick, although the location wasn't very busy the night I dined there. The chicken parmesan had their signature red sauce, which I didnt like on the spaghetti, but decided to give another try. The thing I dont like about it is, that it has a vinegary flavor to it, and is more tart than most italian sauces I've had. On the chicken parmesan it wasnt too bad, but on the spaghetti where the sauce is pretty much the main flavor it was just too much.
The chicken parmesan had a nice crispy coating, the chicken was tender, and a decent sized portion. The cheese on top was fully melted, but not a huge quantity, just enough to get some with every bite, but not all over the plate, and just enough to add flavor to the chicken patty without overpowering it. All the items on the plate were proportioned very well to create a good balanced flavor. The chicken parmesan was $15 at dinner.
When I ordered, the waitress gave me the option of spaghetti noodles, angel hair pasta, or rigatoni pasta. I went with the angel hair, which complimented the chicken parmesan nicely.
Our waitress came by twice during our meal to check on us, answered all our questions, offered menu suggestions, as well as her own personal favorites at the beginning. Service overall was good, but drink refills could have been better.
They have other locations in San Antonio, this one is just a minute or two off I-35 in Schertz.
