Amazing Food in a Neighborhood Bar - Unexpected Entrees
I was introduced to Web House by a friend, and since, have visited multiple times for various events and the occasional drink. Situated just outside downtown on Blanco Rd, this small neighborhood bar may give off a more bar-centric vibe, but don't let that fool you – the food here is exceptional. The owner/chef takes immense pride in his cooking, evident in both the presentation and flavor of every dish served.
What sets Web House apart is its ever-changing menu, featuring special meals for holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving, along with rotating food specials throughout the year.
Over my multiple visits, I've had the pleasure of savoring a diverse array of dishes, including pelmini (Russian dumplings), chicken wings (of various flavors), BBQ brisket, ribs, calamari, coconut shrimp, and vareniki (Russian style pierogis). The variety exists not only on the food menu but extends to the drink menu as well, with an impressive assortment of bottled and canned beers.
Every item I've ordered has been nothing short of great. The pelmini, in particular, stood out, cooked perfectly, and unlike any I've had elsewhere. Served with sour cream and a sprinkle of dill, they were a unique delight.
The atmosphere is decidedly local, with many patrons being regulars, but sitting at the bar often results in friendly conversations with the owner or bartender.
I've had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, discovering that the European and Russian items on the menu are a nod to his origins. In fact, after learning I had never tried Borscht, he kindly prepared a container of it for me.
For those who frequent bars and seek something beyond the ordinary, Web House is the place to visit. The service is friendly, the food is outstanding, and the overall experience is a cut above other bars in town.— Paul
