Random Stop - Tried the Sausage & Brisket - Brisket Taco Is Great!
I recently had the pleasure of trying Double A BBQ, a food truck conveniently located in the front lot just outside Skateland on Goliad Rd & I-37. (Update: They Have Moved Locations)
The truck is open on weekends, until they sell out, usually around 3pm, but can be sooner as I saw people drive up and take large orders to go.
The truck presented a straightforward menu featuring brisket, sausage, ribs, and turkey. My order consisted of a sausage wrap and a Double A taco. The Double A Taco, comprised of a tortilla layered with refried beans, bacon, cheese, and a substantial slice of brisket topped with a fresh salsa.
The standout item was undoubtedly the brisket taco. The brisket itself was a delight—tender, richly infused with smoky flavor, and featuring a thin edge of delectable fatty meat that enhanced the overall taste. Combined with the harmonious blend of beans, cheese, bacon, and salsa, the taco showcased a perfect marriage of textures and flavors, resulting in a truly satisfying experience.
While the brisket, when sampled on its own, may not have secured a spot in my top 10, it certainly deserved commendation and lingered just below my absolute favorites.
On the flip side, the sausage wrap, unadorned and lacking toppings or condiments, fell a bit short in the flavor department, especially following the delightful brisket taco. While not unpleasant, it lacked the standout qualities that would have made it more memorable.
I undoubtedly recommend trying the brisket taco at Double A BBQ if you find yourself in the area. Though not substantial enough to constitute a full meal on its own, pairing it with a side and a drink will undoubtedly put a dent in your hunger.— Paul
