  Interesting Flavors But Wait For Food Was Extremely Long In A Nearly Empty Restaurant

  Dined at the original location. Located at 6060 Montgomery Dr # 101, San Antonio, TX 78239.
  
  This wasnt the first time I'd had African food, but the first time I had tried the items we ordered. We had the Beef Suya appetizer & Jollof Rice/beef. We also tried the Maltina, a malted beverage very similar to (Mexican) Malta.
  
  The food was prepared fresh, but took quite a while to come out. The appetizer came out after about 20 minutes or so, but the main entree took nearly an hour.
  
  The beef Suya had good flavor and a decent amount of spice. The portions were plentiful, and as an appetizer it was easily enough for the 3 of us. The beef was much like cubed BBQ brisket with a spicy powdered seasoning over it served with onions and cucumber.
  
  The Jallof Rice was a decent amount of rice, with a few plantains on the side, but the beef portion was pretty small. It was only a few cubes of beef, about what you would get in a carne guisada taco. I didnt feel the plate was worth the $16. The flavors were definitely different, I couldnt even tell you what kind of spices they were, it reminded me a little of indian food or curry.
  
  The length of time for the food to come out was probably the biggest issue. We dined during the lunch hours, and it was super quiet. There was only 2 tables with people, so Im unsure why the main entree took so long. The staff came out and let us know the food was going to take a bit. But I never imagined we would be there nearly an hour and a half before eating our entrée. Some of our group had to leave just as the food arrived.
  
  Like I said, not my kind of food, but seemed authentic, but I admit I have little exposure to this type of food.
