  Most Affordable Seafood Boil & BYOB

  This place had been on my list to try for a very long time, and I happened to be about 15 minutes away looking for a place to eat this weekend.
  
  The menu is pretty simple, seafood boil with a choice of crawfish, shrimp or both. All boils come with sausage, potatoes, and corn. The menu also has boudin & gumbo a la carte and thats about it. Its BYOB, so you can bring in your ice chest filled with your favorite beer.
  
  I decided to go with the half order boil, with a shrimp/crawfish mix. I was skeptical what the quality or quantity would be for the price.. At $13 this seemed pretty cheap. I was prepared to order a 2nd helping if need be..
  
  My order took about 10 minutes to come out, and it was a decent sized pile of food. My half order contained about 10 crawfish ranging from small to medium, 6 jumbo shrimp, 6 slices of sausage, 2 large potatoes and 2 corn. A slice of warmed bread (regular slices), as well as bottles of cocktail sauce and butter were brought out before the meal.
  
  The shrimp were firm, which is expected for shrimp of this size, and the crawfish were decent, not mushy, but about right for their size. Keep in mind Sept is a little past crawfish season, so I wasnt sure what to expect.
  
  Everything had good flavor, and the level of spice was decent. I ordered a medium since I didnt know what to expect here, and was brought extra seasoning in a cup. I dipped some of my food in the seasoning cup and the spice level was up there. I ended up mixing it into some butter and dipping from that instead.
  
  So I gave this place a 9. The biggest issue with my meal was probably that my potatoes were a tad under cooked. They weren't crunchy but were right at that point. My bottle of butter also seemed a bit off, I started to ask for another, but it wasnt horrible. I just felt it could have been a bit better and had these 2 things been corrected, my meal would have been around a 9.3.
  
  How does this rank with other cajun boil places I've been to? It was actually better than some of the more expensive places in San Antonio. The price was probably the best price I've ever paid for Cajun boil anywhere, and in the current state of inflation it was really surprising. The jumbo shrimp were good quality shrimp, and the flavor was spot on, not like all these other places that boil everything plain, and then toss it in a bag with some sauce.
  
  It wasn't until I read some reviews that I saw this place had been on an episode of "Queer Eye" in 2021 and received a restaurant makeover. I had it on my list because just a few years ago Cajun seafood boil was really hard to find in the San Antonio area, other than Joes (which is no longer in business) we didnt have a place to get it. Now San Antonio has over a dozen places, but I wanted to give this place a try, as it has been around for 23+ years according to the owner.
  
  I intend to visit again, and bring some beer next time. Its definitely a bargain at the current price.
