Good Crispy Tacos, Enchiladas Were Bland.
It had probably been 10+ years since I last ate here. Went to lunch with some associates and this was the place they chose.
I debated what to try, but generally rank Mexican restaurants by enchiladas. I ordered the Mexican plate, that came with 3 cheese enchiladas, 1 crispy beef taco, rice and beans.
The meal started off with some complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa had good flavor, was a fresh salsa style, blended fine, but seasoned well.
The plate came out and right away I noticed the cheese did not look fully melted and I also noticed the enchiladas were made with white corn tortillas. The tortillas were not fully cooked/baked, and still had a very strong raw corn flavor to them. It reminded me of eating a plain tortilla out of a warmer.
The chile sauce that was on them had no meat in it, was pretty much pure red chile, not sure what type, but had a different flavor. The cheese both inside the enchilada and sprinkled on top was not fully melted and was semi-chewy.
While the enchiladas didnt have great flavor, they werent bland, and didnt taste bad. They were just totally out of the ordinary, and not what I would consider representative of Tex-Mex or authentic mexican food.
The rice had good flavor I actually enjoyed the rice with the chile sauce. The combination of the 2 had excellent flavor. The beans were decent as well. The highlight of my meal was probably the crispy taco.
The taco had a crisp shell, the picadillo filling had really good flavor, tasted fresh, was topped with shredded lettuce and cheese, and with the addition of a little salsa, it was a really good crispy taco.
They had a 3 crispy taco plate on special for $9. I almost wish I had ordered that. Based on the plate I ordered, I cant say I would recommend this place. I might recommend it for a crispy taco plate, but not for enchiladas.
The restaurant was pretty busy, but I took a look around and didnt see too many people ordering enchiladas, tacos both crispy and soft ,and steaks seemed to be the main items being served up.
Im not going to say the experience or food was bad, everything but the enchiladas were good, I'd be willing to give it another try, and order something else.— Paul
