Great Enchiladas, Good Puffy Tacos, Wide Variety of Items, Everything Good to Excellent.
So far my favorite item has been the chicken mole enchiladas, with the cheese enchiladas a close 2nd. They have good flavor and the portion size is decent. I've tried about 4 different plates, theres many combos, and they have substituted or added items to my plates in the past. The Pancho Villa is a good one, which is 2 cheese enchiladas, rice and beans and a puffy taco.
Theres also the Zapata plate, 2 Cheese Enchiladas, Carne Guisada, Guacamole, Rice & Beans. and the Madero, 2 Cheese Enchiladas, Fajitas, Rice and Means & Guacamole.
The mole here isn't overly sweet, but is sweet. The chicken is super tender, and topped with sesame seeds, the puffy tacos are a bit thin on the shell, but have good flavor. My only criticism would be that they are greasy at times and fall apart.
The cheese enchiladas have good flavor, the sauce is a chili powder based sauce, the enchiladas come out with the sauce and cheese baked on top, and are pretty decent. Currently I have them ranked as #5 in my enchilada list, but Im constantly trying new places.
Complimentary chips and salsa are also brought to the table, and live entertainment is sometimes there on Friday nights.
I ordered the "Fried Ice Cream" for desert several visits back. I've had fried ice cream at Japanese restaurants before, but this was the first time here. I was expecting a scoop or 2 of ice cream, battered and fried, but what came out was a BIG surprise. A plate with a bowl made of fried sugar and cinnamon dough similar to a buneulo. Inside was 2 large scoops of ice cream, topped with a pile of whip cream, a cherry and a bunch of chocolate syrup. The plate was huge, easily enough to share with another person, and even more amazing was the price.. about $3.75 at the time.
Time from order to table is usually about 10 minutes or less. The restaurant does get busy at times, but even when full, service and order time is still good.
The portion sizes on all the plates has been more than enough, and the pricing on everything is about average. As with everything else, prices increased in 2022. There was a point shortly after covid where the food quality and service both suffered, but recently the food has gotten close to where it used to be.
I'll keep returning, and trying more items because so far everything has been good.
