  • ★★★★½ Ninja Chicken Teriyaki Beef Philadelphia Roll Visited May 22, 2023

Highly Recommend The Ninja Chicken, The Teriyaki Beef Is Average.

Had seen this place mentioned a few times recently, and decided to stop in a little before closing to grab a semi-late dinner.

Service was excellent, despite arriving 20 minutes before closing we were waved in, told not to rush, our food came out quick, drinks were refilled, and even on the way out when I asked for a refill and the fountain machine had been turned off, the girl behind the counter was able to get enough from the leftover pressure in the machine to fill my cup most the way..

The food was good, and portions were huge. I was going to upsize the meat, but the cashier told us the plates were already large. So I ordered the regular steak and shrimp, and decided to try the Philadelphia roll with what I saved on the upsize.

My friend ordered the bento box, and the ninja chicken (med hot), and surprisingly the highlight of the meal was the ninja chicken. It was crisp, thick, had excellent flavor, and crispy batter. We ordered the medium hot and it had a little bit of spice to it, but this item was something totally unexpected. I would definitely order it again, as the flavor was great and portion size was good, and I may even go with the extra hot next time. If this were a chicken fried steak it would be amazing.

Now for the teriyaki beef and shrimp.. sadly it was just average. It had good flavor but wasn't overly impressive. The steamed vegetables were large pieces, and most of the places I have liked them in the past had partially shredded veggies. The teriyaki sauce lacked any prominent flavor, and was neither bold nor sweet, it was just present. I would call the teriyaki average.

As for the Philly roll it was decent, it tasted fresh, the fish had good color, and it was neatly assembled, especially for $6 sushi.

Overall the service was great, food was good, portions were large, and prices were fair. I'd definitely return for the ninja chicken, but felt that the teriyaki was underwhelming. Since this is "Mr Teriyaki" I expected the teriyaki to be the best item on the menu.
