  Great Lunch Specials - Good Fried Fish & Shrimp - Generous Portions

  I've been eating at this Bay Seas location for a while now, and the lunch special is hard to beat.
  
  For just $10, you get two catfish fillets, two shrimp, and fries. The menu lists two pieces of fish, but every time I've ordered it, I've received three. It seems like they tend to be a little generous with the portions here, and I'm certainly not complaining!
  
  Service has been excellent on every visit. Drinks are refilled regularly, and I can get in and out during my lunch break with almost no wait. The waiter/cashier is always friendly, in a good mood, and consistently checks on customers. That kind of service makes a difference when you're trying to squeeze in a meal during the workday.
  
  The fish and shrimp are both excellent. They have a thin, flavorful batter, and the seafood comes out tender and moist. I suspect the coating is cornmeal-based, but it has a very fine texture without any of the grittiness you sometimes find with fried fish.
  
  The fries are your standard straight-cut variety, nothing particularly special on their own, but you get a generous pile underneath the fish and shrimp. More importantly, everything is fried fresh. The fish, shrimp, and fries come out piping hot every time, and I love knowing my food has practically just come out of the fryer.
  
  I'm also a big fan of the tartar sauce here. For me, it's a must with fried fish, and theirs is good. They provide squeeze bottles of ketchup, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce right at the table, so you don't have to keep asking for more. You can even dip your fries in whichever sauce you prefer.
  
  As far as fried seafood goes, Bay Seas is one of my favorite places in San Antonio, and it might even make my top 10 anywhere. It's hard to find better prices and portions, especially when the food itself is this good. I haven't explored much of the menu beyond the fried seafood, but the restaurant keeps things fairly simple, serving the kind of traditional, homestyle Southern fried fish that hits the spot.
  
  Bay Seas has several locations around San Antonio, and I've eaten at three of them. This is my favorite location, thanks to the consistently excellent service, freshly fried seafood, generous portions, and affordable prices. It's an easy choice when I'm craving a good fried fish lunch.

  First Time Eating At Bayseas In Years - Food Was Great

  Service was quick, and the food came out fast. I ordered the $10 lunch special with two pieces of fish and two shrimp, but what arrived at the table looked more like four pieces of fish and two shrimp sitting on top of a mound of fries. The portions were generous for the price.
  
  The fish was a good thickness, tender, moist, and served hot. The batter was fairly thin and reminded me a little of the coating you'd find on chicken nuggets, but it had good flavor. The tartar sauce was good, and most of the fries were nice and crispy.
  
  It's been years since I last ate at Bay Seas, back when they had a location in Converse, TX. I'm glad I finally made it back. The food was decent, service was fast, and the portion sizes were good for the price. I'd definitely return.
