Good Grilled Items, Mollejas & Ribs, Enchiladas Were Average.

While visiting the valley area for the Edinburg UFO Festival last year, I decided to drive around the McAllen, Farr, & Mission area. While there I wanted to try some Mexican food from the area and a quick Google search turned up this place, that offered BBQ and Mexican food on a buffet. The Google review scores seemed decent, so we decided to give it a try.

I walked the buffet area before deciding if I should order from the menu, or go with the buffet, as the buffet was made of about 2 dozen menu items. There was enough on it that I decided to give it a try, a couple items I saw had peaked my interest.

The buffet offered brisket, chicken, sausage, enchiladas, chicken mole, rice, beans, mojellas, capriotada. bunellos, and several other items. I tried nearly everything.

The beef short rib was excellent, juicy, cooked medium, had a nice crust on it, and good smoky flavor. The mojellas, I'd never had before.. were tasty.. with a good beef brisket flavor, a nice charred crust on them, and were very tender, almost like fatty brisket. (I have yet to get a clear answer on what organ this is) I believe its pancreas.

The capriotada was decent as well, this was the first time I've ever tried it with cheese. The cheese enchiladas were good, not amazing but better than most buffet enchiladas I've had, but the chicken mole needed more mole, it was a bit plain and wasnt sweetened so there really wasnt much flavor of any kind.

The menudo was my least favorite item, it had an off flavor and smell. Like perhaps it wasnt cleaned fully. I've had this happen at other places before, and friends have mentioned that in Mexico the menudo doesnt always get cleaned as well as it does in most American restaurants. I put it aside and continued sampling items.

Also on the buffet was bunello chips, and a dessert cup that was a pancake in condensed milk (dulce).

My friends who were dining with me commented their caldo, and borracho beans were excellent, it seemed everyone was happy with their meal. As far as Mexican buffets go, this one was one of the better I've had, as far as Mexican restaurants go, the items I tried were good, but not up to entree level, so I was glad I went with the buffet.

Service was good, my friends ordered from the regular menu, and everything came out quick despite the restaurant being pretty busy during the lunch rush. My experience with the buffet was decent, everything was hot and kept full.

Cashiers and staff were all very friendly. We asked the wait staff questions, that were all answered, had a baby with us, which they seated and rearranged chairs to accommodate.

I would definitely consider eating here again, as they have multiple locations in the area, so if I return down there, it would at least be a safe bet if nothing other than due to familiarity.
