New Renovation, Buffet Has Lots Of Selection, Quality Is A Bit Above Average.

I saw recent reviews that the buffet on Austin Hwy was named King Buffet. Im not sure if it was a change of ownership or remodeling and name. But I'd eaten at this location 3 times in 15 years and had been disappointed in the past. I figured I'd give it another try.

    Freshly Remodeled & Modern
When I arrived I noticed there were more cars that usual, I also saw there was new bright signage on the building. At the entrance it was very noticeable it had been remodeled. The restaurant was very modern looking, and had a lot of blue accent lighting.

I was seated right away, and walked the buffet, my photos arent complete, I missed a few of the islands, there were people serving themselves and I try to avoid taking pictures of people up close.

    Sushi Bar
I tried the sushi bar first. I got a Philly roll, some seaweed salad, some shrimp tempura sushi, some squid salad, a rainbow roll, and a few other items.

The sushi was pretty decent, everything had good flavor, nothing with fishy or dry textures. The sushi chef was actively standing there, preparing more rolls, and refilling as people took sushi.

    Hot Food
Next up was the hot food, I tried some Mongolian pork, a pork shumai, a few pieces of coconut shrimp, baked seafood, and rice noodles.

The noodles had decent flavor, the coconut shrimp was a bit plain, the Mongolian pork was also decent, and the baked seafood was what I feel, one of the better items. One item I had not seen on buffets that they had was a stuffed and battered jalapeno. Otherwise known as a heartattack rolls or honeymoon rolls at other places. I tried it, and other than it being room temperature, it was decent as well.

Another thing I noticed was the Dimsum bar, which had a variety of items, including steamed buns, shumai, and small meat items in the metal containers.

There were also crab legs on the buffet, I was dealing with a bad tooth at the time, so I wasnt able to try as many items as I would have liked. There was also cajun boil, which Id liked to have tried.

I finished off the meal with a bowl of ice cream, and a slice of cheesecake.

    Service
Over the course of my meal, I was checked on multiple times, my plates were removed quickly, my drink was refilled, and as soon as I stood to leave, my waitress came to ring me up. She even brought me a drink to go.

    Overall Impression
Overall it was a very big improvement over my past visits, that caused me to not return. The food now was decent, on par with many other buffets in town. Prices were about average, food selection was good, everything was fresh and hot, sushi was fresh, there was a selection of about 8 rolls, and 3 kinds of sashimi. I would return to the location now, where I had avoided it in the past.
