Sweet Pad Thai, Savory Beef Salad - Everything Ive Tried Here Has Been Good.

I've been a long time customer of Thai Dee, admitidly I havent been eating there as much in recent years, especially since Covid. The restuarant closed for dine in and didnt reopen the dining area until just recently. My friend and I made a trip there to get dinner.

Thai Dee located on Blanco Rd, just across the street from Nimitz Middle School, offers a wide variety of authentic Thai dishes. I've had some pretty amazing meals here, as I owned a store just a few blocks away in the early 00's and used to get lunch specials at least once a week.

The insides are interesting as the walls are paneled with ornate wood. Due to the hard walls, the volume level can get pretty intense when the restaurant is busy. Its also not a very big place, and the parking lot as well as the restaurant can become impossible to access.

The food however is great, and is what I would call some of the better Thai food in the city. The beef pad thai here has been a long time favorite of mine. The pad thai is sweet here, but the flavor is great. The meat seems to be a little better quality than some other places. The noodles are cooked until the sauce becomes sticky, the dish isnt overloaded with peanuts or bean sprouts, and had a good combination of all the ingredients that create a entrée that has no dominant ingredient.

The beef salad, another favorite is a fully cooked version, many places (authentically) serve the beef medium rare, but the meat here is served well done. The lettuce however was white, and not leafy at all, which was a bit disappointing. The flavor however was still pretty good.

Im not much a tea drinker, but I decided to give it a go. Not sure I've ever ordered the tea here before. It was amazing, I've only had tea similar to it a handfull of times, one was a jasmin tea, it was sweet, fruity, not bitter at all, and was full of flavor. I would have probably drank a 3rd glass if they had refilled it.

During our visit the place was packed, our service suffered due to the number of people coming and going and the limited staff with the waitress/cashier/hostess all being the same person. My tea went empty for a while, until I went to the register to ask for a refill, where I received an apology and a refill.
