Amazing Pad Thai, Maybe The Best Ive Had.

While I was in Killeen, I wanted to try at least 2 places, the town is full of foreign food options, it was tough to decide where to eat, but I opted to try a Thai restaurant in addition to the German restaurant.

While browsing reviews online I came across one that said "best pad thai Ive ever had" another said "better than the Thai food I got in Thailand". With those kinds of reviews I decided this was the place to try.

When I first entered the restaurant I found what appeared to be a partly closed restaurant. Only 6 of 15 or so tables were setup. It really took away from the atmosphere. The buffet cart had boxes in front of it and on top of it. Reviewers had mentioned a lunch buffet in the past, but it did not appear they were doing that any longer.

With good reviews of the Pad Thai, I decided to go ahead and order that. I specified beef "medium spicy", cant be too safe when eating at new Thai places.

The table next to me had Thai tea brought out, which was in a large tea glass. I quickly flagged the waiter down to switch my order of a coke to a Thai tea, as it just looked too good to pass up.

I could hear the cook in the back kitchen, frying food, and scraping possibly a wok. The table beside me got their fried rice first, and then my pad Thai came out.

The plate was a decent sized pile of pad Thai, with quite a bit of beef, green onion and bean sprouts. The noodles were the skinny squarish stick noodles, and had a thick brown sauce. It was apparent on the first bite what was going on in the kitchen. Many places will undercook the noodles or rice, in an attempt to stop it from sticking to the wok. But when fully cooked the noodles crisp a bit, the sauce thickens up and the flavor is significantly better in my opinion. This place cooked them fully, and it was absolutely delicious. A definite add to my top pad Thai restaurants.

Ohh, and I was glad I ordered medium hot, it was on the spicy side, probably a place I would hesitate to order hot, and probably stay clear of the Thai hot.

The serving was so large I was unable to finish it, and the leftovers nearly made another meal later. The Thai tea was sweet, with lots of milk. Had a strong flavor, and was brewed properly. Not an instant tea, you could tell this was brewed and iced. It was as well some of the better Thai tea I've had.

Overall the food was great, I almost say fantastic. The atmosphere left something to be desired, but prices were fair and portion sizes were large. Definitely a place you could order multiple entrees and split them.

I would not hesitate to order from here again, even "to go" if just passing by, as this place has made my favorites now for pad Thai.
