Tried The Borchetas Plate. Was Fantastic

(Dont confuse this location with Super Pollos Asados) across the street. This one is nextdoor to IHop

I've tried the Pollos Asados on Rigsby Ave, but didnt realize they had opened a location on Walzem Rd in the building that used to house a New Orleans restaurant years ago in the Rackspace parking lot. I decided to try it out, and knew it was the same place as a cloud of smoke surrounded not only the building, but hovered over the tables inside.

Pollos Asados became notorious for its smoke cloud, which blinded drivers passing by the original location, and invaded homes nearby. But people love the chicken, and swear its some of the best BBQ'd chicken anywhere. I would agree, the chicken here is really good, but on this visit I saw someone at another table get a huge order of beef fajitas which peaked my curiosity. Thats when I decided to go with the fajitas instead of the grilled chicken.

I did however have to ask the waitress about the menu, as the fajita section had multiple items, no description or explaination as to what the difference was between the items. She explained to me that the "Fajitas" was lean beef, The "Sirloin" was fattier beef, and that while they came with grilled onions on bottom, the "Brochetas" came with grilled onions and bacon mixed with the meat and was probably the most flavorful of the options. So I decided to order the Brochetas and Im glad I did.

The plate of sizzling meat came out along with a roasted habanero, and it looked and smelt amazing. It was accompanied by a bowl of borracho beans, a bowl of rice, a pack of corn tortillas, a bowl of lettuce and a small serving of guacamole. The order that came out which I thought was the order for 2 or larger I saw at the other table was in fact the single serving. It was a ton of food. I told my friend, had this been somewhere like Taco Cabana, you would have to order 8-10 tacos to even come close to this portion size.

The meat was full of flavor, the onions carmelized perfectly, a lot of smokey charred flavor, but no burnt flavor. I made at least 4 tacos, ate half my beans, most my rice and most the salad and was stuffed. The to-go box was nearly a full meal, and ended up making 3 more tacos later.

My waitress was very attentive, came by several times, took the time to explain the item differences, and even brought me a tea to go at the end of the meal. Everything about this place was great. The service, the food, and the portion sizes.

Despite not being a fan of chicken, and chicken being what this place is known for, I'll be back to eat here again. Ive tried both the chicken and the beef fajitas now, and both were impressive.
