Old Fashion Burgers with Old Fashion Flavor.

So for my first new restaurant post of the group I visited RD's Burgers in Cibolo TX..

Someone had mentioned RD's burgers to me when I was had posted about cheap places to eat, and how Floyds Hamburgers a longtime San Antonio establishment had closed up. They had some of the cheapest hamburgers anywhere, and old fashioned flavor. So I decided to make a trip to RD's burgers in Cibolo TX, just outside San Antonio.

Located right next to another hidden gem, Magic China, RD's is located on the corner of a small strip mall. Its not a big place and only seats about 30 people. The burgers came in 4 sizes, with the largest being the "Juggernaut" a 1lb burger.

Everything comes prepared the same way, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion and mustard. The menu board has add-ons which include A1, avocado, BBQ sauce, chili, Fritos, cheese, bacon, mushrooms and extra meat. Also on the menu is a milkshake menu with an interesting assortment of flavors that include coconut, banana, mango, German chocolate, passion fruit and more. (See attached photos for other entree options.)

Everything is offered individually or as a combo, and with tots, fries or onion rings. For my very first visit I had the Monster Burger with A1 sauce, as a combo which was a 1/2 lb burger. I opted for the onion rings and a Dr Pepper. My bill was about $9.50. The smallest combo with the 1/6th lb burger is only $5.79 before tax.

The food came out fairly quick, maybe 10 minutes. At the time of my visit, which was just before the dinner rush when a line started to form there were about 8 people dining. The onion rings were thick, crispy and had decent flavor. The hamburger was just what I was expecting. Simple, old fashioned fresh ground beef, cooked on a flat iron grill. The bun, lightly toasted, and much like Floyds bigger burgers. The flavor was good, and the 1/2 lb size burger was perfect for my appetite at the time.

Everything was good, prices were fair for the quality, service was fast, and the menu was pretty decent for a small burger place. I would definitely return for another meal. If you've ever had a burger from a place that has been around since the 50's or 60's this place has that flavor. It was just what I was looking for.
